1 Q: How many people use SlabWorks?

A: SlabWorks us currently in use by 100 engineers in seven countries and 25 US states and Canadian provinces.
2 Q: Will the final general public release version be free?

A: Yes, the general public release version will be free. However, while this program is distributed free of charge by the author, SlabWorks is not public domain, and the copyright to the program remains the property of Eric Green. You may not distribute this software or your registration number to other users under any circumstances. Distribution of the software by anyone other than Eric Green is a violation of Federal copyright law.

3 Q: How can the author be contacted?

A: I can be reached at SlabWorks@slabongrade.net. Include the word “SlabWorks” in your subject line or your email will be ignored (I also hate spam). Alternatively, I may be reached at SlabWorks@gmail.com.

4 Q: What is the release status of SlabWorks™?

A: SlabWorks™ is currently in open beta testing. This means the program is complete, but is being tested by self-selected group of users for quality assurance purposes. After the author is satisfied from user feedback that the program is substantially bug-free and meets user expectations, a general public release will be made. The success of the general public release depends on the quality of the feedback from users to the author of the program

5 Q: What other software packages are available for the design of slab-on-grade foundations on expansive clay?

A: Only two software packages are available for the design of slab-on-grade foundations, SlabWorks™ and PTI Slab 3.0 by GeoStructural Tool Kit. GeoStructural Tool Kit is limited because it only designs slab-on-grade foundations for expansive clay soil using post-tensioned reinforcing under the PTI design method. Last we checked it cost $500 (contact the vendor for current pricing).

6 Q: Is SlabWorks™ an open-sourced program?

A: No. The code for SlabWorks™ is copyright and is not available to the public.

7 Q: Did SlabWorks™ used to be called MultiSlOG?

A: Yes. Doesn’t SlabWorks™ sound better? MultiSlOG sounded too much like a bad trip through the Amazon Rainforest.
